| 内容記述 | "In order to clarify how parents carry their children on the chest in their leisure time, a total of 241 couples and their children were photographed at the Higashiyama Zoo, the Nagoya Port Park and the Ueno Zoo both in summer and in winter. The number of parents who carried their children on the chest was 251 (176 fathers and 75 mothers). A few parents used a baby-carrier. Some parents held their children with one arm. Other parents (219, or 87.3%) used both arms to hold their children. Among them, seventeen patterns of child-carrying style were observed. More than half of the parents (126, or 57.5%) carried their children in a face-to-face position. Others showed a face-to-side position (83, or 37.9%), or a face-to-back position (10, or 4.6%). The lateral preference was different between the mothers and the fathers. The mothers preferred carrying on the middle or the left side of the chest ; however, the fathers had preference for holding on the middle or the right. The arm position of the parents was different according to the age of the children. Most of the parents (191, or 87.2%) used their arms symmetrically to hold their children from the bottom ; however, some parents (16, or 7.3%) placed their arms in a parallel pattern around their babies or toddlers to support them firmly. The seasonal difference was seen in the child-carrying style. In summer, the parents held their children on either side or the middle of their chest using their arms rather freely. However, in winter, the parents tended to embrace their children on the middle using their arms symmetri-cally." | |||||
