We examined the\nmethod of creating planters using a 2-L capacity polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) bottle\nand found that the square-type bottle used for beverages, such as tea, was preferable, as it\nis rigid and does not easily deform. To create a planter by cutting the bottle into two parts\nand inserting the cut upper part upside down into the bottom part of the bottle, it was\nbest to cut it 13 cm from the bottom of the bottle. In addition, the use of round stones was\nconsidered appropriate to separate the upper and lower parts of the planter, so that we can\nobserve how the water placed in the lower part of the PET bottle planter soaks into the soil\nplaced in the upper part. It was also found that the PET bottle planter could hold a larger\nvolume of water compared with planters commercially available at 100-yen shops.
