内容記述 "Children in swimming tend to have some fear on water due to the factors such as obstruction of breathing, blocking of vision, and changes in body equilibrium affected by buoyance. It is said that about a 5-month period is needed in order to overcome the fear in kindergarten kids during swimming instruction. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of swimming goggles as a teaching aid in order to avoid the fear due to blocking vision. Ten children, 4 boys and 6 girls, in the Kindergarten attached to Nagoya Women's University, participated as subjects. All were healthy 5 years old kids, and beginners in swimming. They were divided into the following three groups; Group A(4): without goggles, Group B (4) : with goggles, and Group C (2) : with goggles. The aim of teaching forall groups were to complete crawl strokes. However, an emphasis was placed on becoming familia with water for Groups A and B, while floating for Group C. The workout consisting of 50 min. was held twice per week, for 4 weeks, at a swimming pool at where the room temperature was 33℃, and water temperature was 29℃. As parameters to evaluate their progression, 17 items were selcted during the teaching process. Group A progressed up to the category 6, while group B did to the category 11. Group C was able to swim 15m without floating aids on the 8th day. Comparing A and B, the effects of goggles can be observed, and for group C, the effects might come from both goggles and floating practice."
